Appliance Removal in Conyers
We disconnect and haul off dead or unwanted appliances, from a basement chest freezer to a rusted water heater. Our crew checks the shutoffs, protects your floors and doorframes, and takes refrigerant units to recyclers that recover the gas before scrapping.
Getting Heavy Appliances Out Without Damage
A refrigerator can weigh well over 200 pounds, and it is top-heavy with the compressor at the bottom. Moving one through your home is mostly about controlling that weight on stairs and around corners, and about leaving the water line, drain and outlet behind it in safe condition.
Older houses add their own problems. Interior doors are often 28 or 30 inches wide, narrower than many modern appliances. Kitchens remodeled years ago sometimes had cabinets or trim built in around a range or dishwasher. Earlier owners may have run a copper ice-maker line without a proper valve, or hard-piped a gas range instead of using a flexible connector. We look for these details before anything moves, and we tell you plainly if something needs a plumber or the gas company first.
Appliance removal is the right call when you are replacing a unit and the store will not take the old one, when a broken machine has been sitting in the garage or basement, or when you are clearing a house for sale. If the appliances are part of a bigger cleanout, our general junk removal and basement cleanouts crews handle both in one visit.
What Appliance Removal Includes
Safe disconnection
We unplug the unit, shut the water supply valves and drain washer and dishwasher hoses so nothing drips on the way out. When a gas line is hard-piped or a valve is stuck, we stop and tell you why instead of forcing it.
Fridges, freezers and AC units
Any unit with a sealed refrigerant system goes to a facility that captures the refrigerant before the metal is scrapped. This matters most for older units, some of which still contain R-12.
Water heaters
A failed tank water heater often still holds sediment and several gallons of water. We drain it when possible, cap or tape the open lines, and carry it out instead of sliding it over your floor.
Washers, dryers and ranges
We take these out, make sure the dryer vent and outlet are left unobstructed, and haul the old cords and hoses away with the machine.
Protecting floors and doorways
Runners go over hardwood and vinyl, door jambs get padding, and on stairs we use a strapped appliance dolly. Old plaster chips easily, so we go slowly around corners.
Sweeping where it stood
Years of dust and lint collect behind a fridge or range. We sweep the spot so you see the actual floor before the new appliance goes in.
Signs It Is Time to Get the Old Appliance Out
The new one is coming and the old one is still in place
Many delivery crews will not disconnect or haul away the existing unit. Clearing it a day ahead keeps the install simple.
A dead fridge or freezer is smelling
Once a unit stops cooling, door gaskets and drain pans trap moisture and mold grows fast in a humid Georgia summer. Removing it is easier than trying to clean it.
Rust stains or water under the water heater
A weeping tank usually means the steel liner has corroded through. Once it is replaced, the old tank should leave the house rather than sit in the garage.
Spare appliances piling up
A second fridge in the garage or a broken washer in the basement takes up space and draws power or pests. If it is not earning its keep, it can go.
You are selling or settling an estate
Buyers and inspectors notice abandoned appliances. Clearing them gives a cleaner walkthrough.
Step by Step
- 1
Call us for an estimate
Let us know which appliance is leaving and where it is in the house. On-site estimates are free with no obligation, and we offer same-day and next-day service when the schedule has room.
- 2
Check the way out
The crew measures doors and stair turns against the unit and looks at the shutoffs before handling anything. Since we are enrolled in E-Verify, you know who is working in your house.
- 3
Unhook and cover
We shut valves, drain lines and unplug the unit, then put down floor runners and jamb pads all the way to the truck.
- 4
Move it out and load it
When we can, appliances travel upright on a strapped dolly, which spares your stairs and keeps any fluids inside.
- 5
Separate for recycling
We split out refrigerant units, scrap steel and working machines so each one reaches the proper recycler or donation spot and stays out of the landfill.
What Goes Into an Appliance Removal Price
Pricing is upfront with no hidden fees, and you'll know the figure before work begins. It depends on the appliance and the effort needed to get to it and out.
- Which appliances and how many
- One dryer goes fast. A fridge, a chest freezer and a water heater in one job need more crew time and more room on the truck.
- Refrigerant
- Appliances with a sealed refrigerant system come with a recycling charge that plain steel units don't.
- Its spot in the house
- Hauling a freezer up a tight basement stair, or freeing a range hemmed in by old cabinets, takes more time than moving a washer beside the garage door.
- Unhooking it
- Pulling a plug and turning a quarter-turn valve is quick. Stuck valves or extra draining take longer.
Questions About Appliance Removal
Something not covered here? (404) 999-0644
Should I disconnect the appliance before you get here?
No, we handle unplugging, shutting water valves and draining hoses. The exception is a gas appliance hard-piped into the line. We'll flag it during the estimate so a plumber or your gas provider can disconnect it before we pick it up.
What becomes of the refrigerant in my old fridge?
Fridges, freezers and window AC units go to recyclers that capture the refrigerant before crushing the unit. Releasing it into the air is illegal, and older units can contain refrigerants that seriously harm the atmosphere.
My old freezer won't fit through the basement doorway. Can you still remove it?
Usually. Taking off the doors and handles tends to free up enough room for an older 28 inch opening. If the door frame was built after the freezer was put in, we'll go over the options with you before we take anything apart.
Does it have to be working for you to haul it?
No. Most appliances we take are broken. Working units in good condition may be donated, and the others are recycled as scrap.
Can you haul other items during the same visit?
Yes. We often combine an appliance pickup with furniture removal or a full garage cleanout, so you only need to book one visit.
